Some things I’ve learned over the past week
- Today on our ride home from the hotel in Santa Clarita, I was talking to the only woman youth sponsor about her life and how she had come to Sacramento and stuff. We started to talk about really deep stuff & even though she’s over double my age, I found myself really relating to this one experience that she had overcome. Somehow I had convinced myself that I was the only one who ever went through something like that & struggled with it so I never shared to anyone what had happened. But because I felt she understood, I finally opened up about it and she gave me some really awesome advice that I don’t think anyone else could have given without going through it them self. So to sum it up…I learned: WE’RE NEVER ALONE!! Beyond God, He also gave us fellow believers who have gone through some of the same things as us to guide and help each other through confusing times!
- LOVING PEOPLE IS PART OF LOVING GOD!! If I were to live my whole life trying to please God by only loving myself, I wouldn’t be serving my purpose. The great commission tells us to go out and make disciples of all nations but in order to do that we must create relationships and God’s greatest commandment is basically to love. Therefore to love God we must try to obey His commandments by loving people. It’s even more than those we’re trying to minister to but fellow believers. (Sorry that one wasn’t very flow-y & probably didn’t make much sense.)
- Also the fact that we all have our own God-given individual gifts, some being more visual and apparent than others, means no one is better or worse than anyone else. WE ALL SUCK & ARE SINNERS!!
I have more things I learned but I’m getting tired. I believe that’s the main bulk though! I’m definitely going to miss going to Mexico though…this year was pretty good!
